The unrest in our thoughts that leads to division in our hearts is the place where shortages are born and where they rise up out of the barren earth of discontent. Our thoughts' entanglement with perceptions — true or untrue — is what keeps us from the results we long for. The influence of thoughts upon us, their attachment to and their leaning towards everything negative, creates this reality inside us and keeps it alive. For our thoughts, fear is a reflex action, just as it is a reflex for our heart to pulse blood.
But this dynamic of fear is not where our heart feels at home. It is not the heart's true address. Our heart was made to anchor itself in love and to live there. And so, if we want to feed life with life, we must send our thoughts away from toxic influences — because it is precisely here that society is currently headed towards a nervous breakdown.
It is in our heart that we learn to split love — a great deal for everyone who is easy or who is like us, and less for the difficult ones. It is also here that our faith discriminates and degenerates into unbelief. It is a warm-cold game. Move away from your actual address and your heart feels heavy; move back to love and the fetters drop away and your heart feels light and free. Warmth comes back.
Our thoughts cannot help but hold on to what we believe to be the truth. For that reason, cleaning up our own integrity is the first step of a return to our heart's true address, and to our real self. God wants to give us everything we ask, but the address where these requests are delivered is PEACE. And peace reigns only when we allow our own heart to live in its own truth.
The peace that passes all understanding, that keeps our heart from being troubled, is the same peace that brings the miracle. We think in vain that we will experience peace as soon as we have reached our perfect world. Abundant peace is the cause, not the effect. Every thought is, going forward, the cause of an effect. Peace is therefore a choice. Consciously, and every day. A disposition that walks ahead, to lead your thoughts. Your starting blocks must stand in the right place.
