From around 1996, for a quarter of a century, Amanda Kreitzer was the editor of Val du Charron — a monthly newspaper and magazine for Wellington and the surrounding Wagon-makers Valley in the Western Cape, South Africa.

Every issue opened with an editorial under the title Heil die Leser. The editorials moved through the seasons of the valley, through the history of the town, through her faith, and through the people she met and observed along the way. This website is an archive of those pieces.

Amanda still writes from Wellington. The monthly editorial ended with the paper, but her prose carries on — new pieces are added to the Prose page as they are written.
